Interview with Anne Mercier

1.       What was the first story you ever wrote? (Unpublished or published) The first story I ever wrote was when I was in fifth grade. It was a ridiculous little story about our dog having puppies under the basement stairs and the sounds frightening me, but I had to see what they were.

2.       Why did you want to become an author?  All the stories in my head need to be purged. There are so many!

3.       What is your favorite treat when you are writing? Oddly enough, grapes and string cheese.

4.       Do you have any writing rituals you do to get in the mood? Music. Music sets the tone. And reading on a regular basis keeps my creativity flowing.

5.       Is there any type of scenes you shy away from writing about? I don't think I shy away from anything, but after the 7+ years of writing, I find myself avoiding explicit sex and kind of gloss it over/summarize. I don't know why.

6.       What is a genre you don’t currently write but would like to try?  Romantic suspense. I have a story in mind and it will be written soon.

7.       Why do you write in the genre you currently write in? Romance… I think it's because I want to keep everyone hopeful that true love really is out there, even when they don't believe it.

8.       What is the most difficult hurdle you’ve had to get over while writing so far?  Honestly? It's been finding out/learning who I can and can't trust. It's a very large market and some will step on you on their way up.

9.       What is your dream for your book? (Ie: movie, in big box stores, etc)  I'd love for my books to make it to the big box stores. That'd be a dream.

10.   Who would you have play your main characters if you could pick anyone in the world (dead or alive)? Oooh, this is tricky. My rockstar series is the most popular and the lead singer for Falling Down is based on M. Shadows from Avenged Sevenfold, but I'm not sure he'd want to act. For Lucy I've always envisioned her to look like Selena Gomez.

11.   What is your favorite coffee/or tea?  Favorite coffee: Starbucks caramel macchiato, hot and cold. So good.

12.   What would you put in a cocktail that represents your latest release? I think it'd be straight up tequila for my latest release, Sync. My current WIP would be sparkling Moscato, raspberry sorbet, raspberries, and Chambord (raspberry liqueur).

13.   A fire alarm goes off in your home. What are the first 5 things you grab?  Dog, laptop, purse, folder of important papers, iPad.

14.    Do you use a spoon or fork to eat macaroni and cheese? Spoon.

15.   What are you currently binge watching/or listening to? Currently binge watching The Resident. Conrad is so sexy. For music, I'm currently looking at new music that's available, finding some new things I like since so much has changed.

16.   What do you think is the perfect girls night out? Dinner and going out for a few drinks.

17.   When you were little what was your favorite toy that you took everywhere?  Raggedy Ann

18.   What is something your readers don’t know about you?  I have a million and one allergies ranging from environmental to feathers. Yes, feathers. Weird.

19.   Who is your favorite all time author? Do you own any of their books? My favorite all-time author is Nora Roberts/JD Robb. I had the total JD Robb collection until my divorce when my ex decided to have a bonfire of all of my books. (He's going to hell for that for sure!) But I've started over.

20.   If you could interview anyone in the world who would you choose? And Why?  Oh wow. This is a very good question. I'll skip the political and go with the entertaining: Ryan Reynolds. He's funny as all hell and I imagine an interview would be hilarious.
